Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does Sharepod 4 work with my iPhone, iPad, or iPod?

  • Yes! Sharepod 4 works with all iDevices ever made.

  • iTunes is asking to sync my device. What should I do?

  • We strongly recommend to avoid syncing in iTunes until after you're done transferring all of your data with Sharepod 4. Syncing your device with iTunes could erase any data on your device that is not in iTunes, so you'll want to cancel any iTunes sync messages, and to be safe, you could go into iTunes Preferences and check the box to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" on the Devices tab.

  • Does iTunes need to be open to use Sharepod 4?

  • Yes, you do need to have iTunes open while using Sharepod 4 since it uses the iTunes interface to connect with a device.

  • How do I perform a one-click automatic transfer of everything into iTunes?

  • Just click on the drop-down menu in the lower right corner and choose Auto Transfer. Then, in the confirmation window, click on Start Auto Transfer. This will transfer all of your iTunes media into iTunes in a single transfer and will include your playlists, play counts, star ratings, and more.

  • How do I transfer selected tracks or playlists into iTunes or to a local folder?

  • First, select a playlist in the left panel or track(s) in the main window. Then, click on the drop-down menu in the lower right corner, make your selection, and click on Go to start the transfer.

  • How do I select multiple tracks in the track list?

  • Hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or Command key (Mac) as you click additional tracks.

  • Sharepod crashes on startup. What's happening?

  • Please make sure you've run iTunes at least once before opening Sharepod. If it's a .Net Framework exception, you'll need to install QuickTime which is needed for the media previews in Sharepod. Then, try running Sharepod again.

  • How do I transfer my SMS text messages from my iPhone to my computer?

  • You'll need to use iExplorer 3 to transfer text messages from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to your computer. iExplorer can export any SMS, MMS, and iMessage conversations as a PDF file which looks very close to the way it appears in the Messages app on your device.

  • My iPod keeps disappearing from Sharepod. How can I get it to stay connected?

  • First, make sure your iPod is appearing in iTunes. If it is in iTunes, please check the box to "Enable Disk Use" on the Summary tab for your iPod in iTunes and check Sharepod again.

  • How do I transfer photos from my iPhone to my computer?

  • Our iExplorer app is perfect for transferring photos from an iPhone, iPod, or iPad. iExplorer can export your Camera Roll, Photo Library albums synced from iTunes, and Photo Stream photos to a Mac or PC.

  • I am receiving a Runtime Error (at 31:1151) during the install of Sharepod. What do I do?

  • Please install Microsoft .Net Framework 4 which is required to run Sharepod in Windows. Then, restart your computer and try again.

  • I'm getting an "unable to access track" error when transferring tracks from my iPod. How do I fix this?

  • Please check the box to "Enable Disk Use" on the Summary tab for your iPod in iTunes and try the transfer again.
